Notifications and sound
Browser permission is only one step. Check the system too.
Open timerCheck the website
- In timer Settings, enable notifications and accept the browser permission prompt.
- If previously blocked, change this site’s notification permission in the address bar, then reload.
- Send a test, then switch to another app to check. A hidden permission hint only means browser permission and a subscription are ready.
Check your computer
On macOS, open System Settings → Notifications, find your browser or installed web app, and allow notifications, a visible alert style and sounds. On Windows, use Settings → System → Notifications. On Linux, notification settings depend on the desktop environment.
Check Focus or Do Not Disturb, system volume and site muting. In-page chimes work only while the page can run and audio is enabled and allowed. They are separate from system push sounds.
iPhone and iPad
- Use iOS / iPadOS 16.4 or later and open rest in Safari.
- Choose Share → Add to Home Screen, then launch from that icon.
- Enable notifications in rest and allow the web app in system Settings → Notifications.
Permission in an ordinary browser tab does not replace permission for the Home Screen web app. Focus mode may silence or delay alerts.
Android and background restrictions
Chrome is recommended and can install the app. Check site permission, Chrome’s system notification settings and battery or background restrictions. Offline devices, battery saving, browser shutdown and push providers can all affect delivery.
What a successful test means
A submitted test or an accepted push request does not prove that your system displayed a notification. Websites cannot read Notification Center. If settings look correct, disable and enable notifications again to refresh the subscription.
Before you stop using rest, pause the timer and disable notifications. Closing the page alone does not stop cloud timing. Continuous sessions pause after 12 hours.
